HSGS-Ameresco Selected to Construct 1.5 MW Solar PV Array for Tooele Army Depot
HSGS-Ameresco, a joint venture between Hannah Solar Government Services and Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE:AMRC), has been awarded a $7,900,000 contract to design and construct a 1.5 MW (AC) ground mount solar photovoltaic (PV) system for the US Army at Tooele Army Depot in Tooele, Utah.
Tooele Army Depot is a United States Army Joint Munitions Command post in Tooele County, Utah. Originally opened in 1942, the depot has primarily served as a storage site for reserve and training ammunition for the United States, among other related tasks.
When operational, the ground mount solar array will reduce much of the costs the base incurs with traditional power sources.
In August, 2021, Hannah Solar Government Services and Ameresco entered into a joint venture as part of the SBA Mentor Protégé Program, which helps eligible small businesses, known as protégés, gain exposure and win government contracts through partnerships with more experienced companies, referred to as mentors. By entering into a joint venture, HSGS has the unique opportunity to grow as an energy provider by learning from the Ameresco team, which is comprised of an experienced group of government contractors.
HSGS and Ameresco have previously worked together to provide renewable energy solutions to the federal government, including contracts for the US Army, Department of Veteran Affairs, and NASA.
The Tooele Army Depot is the first contract awarded to Joint Venture HSGS-Ameresco.
Col (RET.) Dave McNeil, President and CEO of HSGS-Ameresco, said “The United States military is dependent on many different facilities around the country, and the Tooele Army Depot is one of the posts that is critical to our national security. We are honored and excited to work as a joint venture to continue supporting those who protect our nation.”
