HSGS Completes Construction of 1.2 MW Solar Farm for Otis Elevator Company

Charleston, SC- Hannah Solar Government Services (HSGS) recently completed the construction of a 1.2 megawatt (MW) ground mounted solar array for Otis Elevator Company at the company’s facility in Florence, South Carolina. On Thursday, February 22, Otis hosted a ceremony to officially flip the switch to the newly constructed solar array.
 
Otis is the world's leading manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways. Otis offers products and services through its companies in approximately 200 countries and territories, and moves more than 2 billion people each day worldwide.

By incorporating solar at its facility in Florence, Otis is demonstrating a continued commitment to providing clients with energy-efficient products that are also sustainably manufactured. Pictured left, Otis Elevator Company’s 1.2 MW solar array. (Photos provided by Otis)

Otis’ solar array consists of 3,660 solar panels and is expected to generate 1,852,700 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy in its first year, which is enough electricity to power 171 homes. HSGS installed Otis’ ground array in a field located next to Interstate 95, providing passersby with a unique view of Otis’ corporate commitment to power their operations with clean, renewable energy.
